Demonglass: Review

Demonglass (Hex Hall, #2)
Demonglass
Author: Rachel Hawkins
Publisher: Hyperion Book CH
Series: Hex Hall #2
Pages: 359

Summary:

That was the whole reason she was sent to Hex Hall, a reform school for delinquent Prodigium (aka witches, shapeshifters, and fairies). But that was before she discovered the family secret, and that her hot crush, Archer Cross, is an agent for The Eye, a group bent on wiping Prodigium off the face of the earth.

Turns out, Sophie’s a demon, one of only two in the world—the other being her father. What’s worse, she has powers that threaten the lives of everyone she loves. Which is precisely why Sophie decides she must go to London for the Removal, a dangerous procedure that will destroy her powers.

But once Sophie arrives she makes a shocking discovery. Her new friends? They’re demons too. Meaning someone is raising them in secret with creepy plans to use their powers, and probably not for good. Meanwhile, The Eye is set on hunting Sophie down, and they’re using Archer to do it. But it’s not like she has feelings for him anymore. Does she? (Goodreads)

My Thoughts:

Sophie finds out that she is a demon and she is terrified that she will lose control of her powers and end up hurting someone. This is why she decides to go to London to go through the Removal which will strip her of her powers, that is if she makes it out alive. While she is there she starts having second thoughts about going through the Removal. Maybe being a demon isn't that bad after all?

Normally I'm not a fan of the 2nd book in a series. They usually feel like they are just setting up for the 3rd book and the plot doesn't really go anywhere, but this one is different. There is a lot happening in this story and there are new characters and a new setting added to the mix. Sophie is still her sarcastic, witty self and I love her for that. This book is full of action and the love triangle continues. Why is there always a love triangle? And why am I always "Team guy-who-isn't-going-to-get-the-girl"? Seriously. Can't the guy I like ever get the girl and live happily ever after?! I'm totally rooting for Cal right now. Who wouldn't want a strong, sweet, sexy, hard-working handy man? But I have a feeling Sophie is going to end up with her original crush, Archer.

I had a really hard time putting this book down. It seems like I couldn't turn the pages fast enough and it was over before I knew it. I am a fan of this series so far and I'm excited to go find the 3rd book and find out what happens. Oh and I must add that I really like the covers on the books in this series. And not just because the cat on the cover looks exactly like my kitty . . . ;p

*I borrowed this book from the library.
